Now .... how about another CONTEST! This time, I'm making it a little harder. Not much though, so don't worry.
CONTEST #2 - On your blog (if you don't have a blog, just comment to this entry), post an entry about which knitting charity is your favorite, and why. Everyone who posts their answer will get there name written down and put in the hat, and I'll have John draw the winner. The deadline will be Wednesday, August 15th, at 8pm EST, and the winner will be announced by the following Friday. It should be interesting to read every one's answers.
And as for a prize? How about TWO skeins of Big Noro Kureyon?

So, happy posting, and happy knitting!

Since your project is my first charity, I'm voting for yours! I did read about "Stitches from the heart" where they provide hats for preemies and that will be my next project as well.
Carewear.org I think is my favorite,
I have knit preemie hats, booties, butiel gowns and small blankets for them for 10+ years.
They appeal to me, in part, because there are so many places you can send the items, so I tend to send to a hospital that is making a specific appeal.
I like a bit of change at times, which is how I came upon your site...but I always return to "Carewear".
It just occurred to me, that I hadn't posted my favorite knitting charity. Besides this one here, for obvious reasons, I really love Dulaan. No matter what, I always try to knit them about ten things a year, because I love the fact that I can knit a hat, and it will go to someone half way across the globe. And the pictures over at Mossy Cottage Knits are enough to melt your heart and draw you in!
Do you know that there is no more Dulaan,
(I like them too) but there is another one similar called "Mittens for Akkol" and they need socks, among other things..wool things.
Sorry for the double post...the first being under "Caitlin", my daughter. I didn't realise she had borrowed my laptop and had logged in under her name. Oops...
But anyway... about Favorite Charity...
I"m pretty attached to both this charity and Warm Up America. I like WUWinc because it's close to my home and I'm all for helping people around me.
I like WUA because it was the first real charity project I got involved with and the first one that REALLY made me feel productive and helpful.
I'll continue to support both as my favorites. :)
Oooh! Shiny!!!
I wrote a post in my knitting blog here: http://knitterofshinythingsknits.blogspot.com/2007/08/on-knitting-charities.html
I can't decide on a favorite so I decided to talk about all the charities I've donated items to, since that way people can learn about them all. Though no one really reads my knitting blog yet, since it's new and has no publicity, and I don't focus on it as much as I do on my other blogs.
I'll tell ya...your contests are awfully generous! :)
Amy, I just left my most favorite causes to knit for on my blog.
And up just in the nick of time!
